The beautiful, but tottering silver birches won't be the cause of any damage . . .As those of you that saw it will remember only too well the "end" Silver Birch (nearest to the car park entrance) decided it had had enough, and dropped across the road, narrowly missing telephone lines and adjacent properties.
Thankfully, locals were quickly on the scene and the road was soon re-opened, but the CA were advised that the remaining trees were likely to follow suit - the only question was "when?" Tree surgeons opinions were sought, and they agreed - the remaining trees should be felled as soon as was convenient. Using their advice, volunteers from the village brought all of the remaining trees down safely and quickly. The committee will consider how and where to plant replacements.
